What do you do with an idea?

You gather your most creative friends together and you make that idea a reality, accompanied by a beautiful assortment of oddities and curiosities, of course.

This may sound like bragging, but I am friends with some pretty cool and creative people, who are always down to make art with me. Now, I am not the brain behind this concept, I am just one of a few photographers who is thankful to be included. My dear friend, Amanda, of Amanda Marsala Makeup, ideated this concept and compiled the most incredible dream team for hair, props, models, and photographers, and the location in Mendon Ponds Park was the perfect backdrop.

Ready to hear the amazing concept? Imagine, if you will, that you've been transported back in time, to an age where witchcraft was heresy and women who defied the expectations of their place in society were accused of making a pact with the Devil in exchange for magical power to commit evil acts. Witches are often depicted as villains in fairy tales, or exercisers of the satanic occult in scary movies. But for practitioners of modern witchcraft, it is spiritual, empowering, and magical.

Here we have three sisters accused of witchcraft, on the run in order to escape death. Their familiars in tow, the eldest sister, middle sister, and they young, more feral sister have made their way into the woods to survive on their own, free of judgement, ridicule,  in search of safety and security.

I absolutely LOVE how each of these images came out. From the group shots to the solo spotlights, each model shone brightly and really gave it all they had. I want to give credit where it is due to Amanda Marsala Makeup for her fantastic artistry and conceptual genuis, Noelani Joiner Creative for her incredible hair styling skills and behind the scenes work as well. I want to give credit to the two other amazing photographers I got to work with, Rachel Putsman Photography and Kathryn Anne Photography, and of course to the boss women who DEFINITELY understood the assignment as models, Rae Fromm, Jesse Locke, and Breanna Devey. Last, but certainly not least, a big thank you goes to Burdock Boughton from Twigloo Farms for lending us their incredible collection of bones, pelts, and other various oddities.
