Celebrating new beginnings
Spring is one of my favorite times of year! Nature is coming back to life; waking up after a long cold winter to show off gorgeous blooms and vibrant greenery.
Springtime also brings many other new beginnings, especially for the Williams family as they are about to welcome their newest addition into their family later this month!
Jennifer and I go WAAAAAYYYY back, like pre-school friends way back. We grew up together in a tiny little cornfield town, and I've photographed her engagement, her wedding, and her maternity session for her first beautiful baby boy. To be asked again to capture another milestone for her was truly such an honor and a blessing to be a part of.
With the weather finally holding out hope for warmer days and more consistent sunshine, I decided to suggest an outdoor location I have been DYING to shoot at in Naples, NY called Cummings Nature Center (CNC). CNC is a nature preserve, run by the Rochester Museum and Science Center, nestled right in the heart of the Finger Lakes region in Ontario County. With about 900 acres and over 12 miles of hiking/ski trails, CNC offers dreamy natural backdrops for any type of photo session.
CNC did not disappoint, friends. This location is perfect for taking little ones to as there is plenty for them to explore, interactive areas to play, and a plethora of sticks for those like little Benjamin who enjoy the simple pleasures nature has to offer.
I can't say enough good things about Cummings Nature Center. It is an incredible and accessible location right in Rochester's own backyard! For other photographers who might be interested in choosing CNC for your next session's location, there is a photo permit pass you'll have to purchase on the day of your session, which covers the cost of your entire group and supports the work that the nature preserve does everyday to protect the environment; I'd say that is a pretty good deal!
